York County solicitor says there is no evidence anything was wrong with Newberry Twp. voting machines

The York County solicitor has told Maxine Kauffman, a write-in candidate for Republican committeewoman from Newberry Township, that he found there was no evidence of anything wrong with the voting machines during the May 18 primary elections.

Kauffman was challenging Christina Conley, a candidate with a long history of run-ins with the law, for the office. Kauffman complained to the election bureau that several people told her they were having trouble writing in her name.

In his response, solicitor Michael Flannelly said the elections judge said there were no problems except that one machine's screen froze, but worked after it was powered down and restarted. "No voters complained to the elections judge that they were prohibited from voting due to machine issues. Furthermore, nobody complained that they were unable to cast a write-in vote for you," he wrote.

Flannelly suggested Kauffman find a lawyer familiar with election law if she is not satisfied. Kauffman said she is going to ask people who told her they had trouble voting to call the election bureau.
