Seems Jack van Sloot Vinyl recordings is off to a great start with the release of JVS001 - Morgan Alexander’s The Every Make EP, even catching the attention from the Yes/No/Maybe Gods at Resident Advisor. The wax has made its way to shops worldwide, including the the likes of Juno Records (UK), Word and Sound (Germany), Hard Wax (Germany), Decks.de (Germany), Amoeba (US), Clone (Holland), Technique (Japan), and Pigeon Records (Japan).
RESIDENT ADVISOR REVIEW:
Morgan Alexander might live in LA, but his clanging beats feel like the antithesis of the city’s permanently sunny skies. He’s been doing the Bottom Floor party for a while now, and with The Every Make he becomes a producer and label head, inaugurating the Jack Van Sloot imprint with three heaps of grimy techno.
The EP’s one constant is its clomping kicks; this is capital-T techno, and each track hits with an exaggerated quake. The “Super Sloot” mix of “Randomly Squared Move” has a against-the-grain rub that smacks of Marc Romboy and his Systematic label. It’s abrasive, but also playful. “Job Creators” is almost a genial pisstake on the sound, juggling frantic arpeggios with humourous vocal samples (“somebody’s gotta make the robots who make the robots!”). The EP winds down with the “Sorta Sloot” mix of “Randomly Squared Move,” where the gritty synth lead is reshaped into smooth contours while the white noise elements gently nudge the beat. It’s a treat to hear techno that’s tinted this dark expressed with so much personality.

Arguably 20 years in the making, Morgan Alexander has his little vinyl-only label project together.
Jack van Sloot Vinyl Recordings is a Los Angeles based dance music label with a Dutch name. Kinda just because… And kinda not.
Primarily featuring Alexander’s own productions, releases begin in March 2013 with JVS001 - The Every Make EP, being distributed worldwide by Chicago’s Crosstalk International.
Beyond being a heckuva (er, Huckuva?) night, something very important happened at the first Bottom Bump… Jaime and I became forever bonded through our realization that we’re the only 2 humans on earth that drink Red Bull for the taste.
So, we’re gonna do another party together!!
We’ve gone ahead and bet the farm (as my oldtimey friend likes to say) to push the boat out a bit (as my Irish friend likes to say) and fly TERRE THAEMLITZ in from Japan (as I like to say).

Simply put, early Recloose records are among those that defined Bottom Floor from the start. I had 3 or 4 of ‘em in my bag at the first one, and one or two of 'em never leave. I’ve been trying to make this happen for quite awhile, so I’m really really (really!) excited that Matthew’s gonna join us during a rare visit from his adopted lab of Auckland, New Zealand.
And! As if that wasn’t cool enough, I’m super happy to be able to heap on more specialness by welcoming back Dahlia.

///ABOUT RECLOOSE:
Fourteen years after his now infamous ‘Demo on Rye’ exchange with Carl Craig in a downtown Detroit sandwich shop, Recloose has developed into a true standout of the city’s musical litter. His inventive and restless output is distinctive and diverse, melding together moody techno, soulful house, synth-heavy jazz, funk and heavy downtempo with the great of ease, and as only he knows how.
With tremendous fanfare, summer 2011 will see the much anticipated release of the first original Recloose music to emerge in three years – the ‘Saturday Night Manifesto’ EP for Rush Hour. The seminal Amsterdam based label last year outed ‘Early Works’, a spine tingling retrospective collection celebrating his best work from the late 90’s and early 00’s.
Additionally, Recloose has to date released a number of groundbreaking 12’s for Planet E and Rush Hour, a host of remixes, and four full-length albums for noteworthy labels !K7, Peacefrog, Octave Lab and Sonar Kollektiv. He has been responsible for several hit singles which remain somewhat hallowed amongst educated heads – namely ‘Cardiology’, (incidentally with a five-star remix from Isolee), ‘Dust’ featuring Joe Dukie, and ‘Can’t Take It’ featuring R’n’B sensation Dwele, later stunningly re-worked by Carl Craig.
A much in-demand DJ, Recloose spent years traversing clubs and festivals around the world, as well as performing as a turntablist for both Carl Craig’s Innerzone Orchestra and the more esoteric Uri Caine ensemble. He has spent much of his last few years recording and playing with his funk-oriented Recloose Live Band, rendering his more house oriented DJ sets a rare treat. Fans can catch him via his ‘Hit It and Quit It’ radio show aired every Monday from Auckland’s George FM (www.hititandquititradio.blogspot.com) – the broadcasts and accompanying blog are sure-fire crate-digging fodder for any self-respecting house head.
This year Recloose resurfaces from his base in Auckland, New Zealand, to once again trail blaze the dancefloors of the US and Europe, with his recent RA Podcast giving listeners a taste of what they can expect from each of his resounding performances.
Evidently despite the name, and luckily for followers the world over, Recloose finds it impossible to stray far from the vanguard of electronic music for too long.
