The Alabama Bureau of Investigation arrested a Russellville police officer on sexual misconduct charges late Friday, officials said.

Police Sgt. Jeremy Shane Hall, 33, 1372 Franklin 89, Phil Campbell, was arrested by ABI officers at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Quad-Cities Troopers Post and charged with three counts of custodial sexual abuse.

He was booked into the Franklin County Jail about 5 p.m., officials said.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett suspended Hall almost three weeks ago after allegations were made against him by a female inmate in the city jail.

“Immediately upon learning of the allegations, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate, due to the fact that Hall is an officer,” Hargett said.

Hall has worked with the Russellville Police Department for eight years and he remains on unpaid administrative leave.

Since the first allegation of inappropriate conduct involving female inmates was made last month, others have stepped forward to make similar accusations, sources said.

A notice of claim has been filed with the city of Russellville by four former inmates who intend to sue the city based on events inside the city jail.

The allegations are still under investigation.
