One Month Since Detainment

Today marks one month since Ismail Alwahwah's arrest by the Jordanian General Intelligence Directorate (GID) upon arriving in Amman.

He has now been transferred to a Public Security Directorate (PSD) prison (Marka Prison) where he has been placed in solitary cell and only allowed out in sunlight twice a week for a short period.  

It is clear by now that he is being held over a couple of Facebook posts he made while living in Australia - posts that relate to his political views.  

Therefore his detainment is not only ludicrous but is also a crime in itself. 

However despite all that; he is still yet to be released one month later!

Given the Jordanian Government's poor track record we hold grave fears over his fate and health, especially with threats being made to take the matter to the infamous State Security Court, where charges and verdicts are laid without any due process.

Also in anticipation of any preposterous decisions by the GID we have lined up appropriate international lawyers to deal with the matter at the level of seriousness it deserves in both Australia and Jordan.

We thank everyone for their support whether through this petition or through the immense messages of support we have received over other mediums.
