Dear Toastmasters!

This is Valeria - your D108 PRM on air! :)

Autumn is the time when days are getting shorter, and nights are becoming longer. Autumn is also the time when District, Division, Area and Club leaders start making recaps of the projects initiated in the first months of the Toastmasters year.

Well, planning and implementing is a very important part, still recognizing and praising is the sweetest one, right? :)  So let's now see how much has been achieved in District 108 by each and every one of us in this NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER!

Get a cup of coffee and a cupcake and enjoy your reading :)

SECTION #1. DISTRICT 108 NEWS!

Gabriela Roivainen,  District 108 Director, thank you for these great motivational words! Let' keep up the pace we've taken at the start for the whole TM term!

And we all remember our DISTRICT GOAL to become Distinguished in April 2020! (should you've missed that, see our D108 at a glance presentation)

IMPORTANT DOCUMENT #1: DCM MINUTES

For those leaders who want to know about the District 108 finance & budget (well, probably everyone wishes to know how much money D108 has and how it can be spent), do take a look at the minutes of the District Council Online Meeting (DCM) which took place late September.

IMPORTANT NEWS #2: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS OPENS SOON!

Very soon, on November 18th we will start looking for the best candidates to support clubs in our District 108 who would become members of District 108 Executive Committee 2020-2021.

Do you think YOU may be a great fit? Do you know someone who could be? Go to the special section of D108 website - LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES - to find out more!

COOL TEAM BUILDING :)

The 1st DECM of the Toastmasters 2019-2020 term took place in a cozy little town of Kaunas, Lithuania at a sunny September weekend. 30+ people from all over District 108 got together for this themed event – THE SUPER-HEROES!

Let’s fly back there and hear what people say about these amazing two days!

And do NOT FORGET to take a look at these FUNNY PICTURES from Kaunas 😉

SECTION #2. EDUCATION
Be in harmony. Yet be different.

That’s the perfect principle that keeps people evolving, the world moving & the ball rolling.

Being so diverse we coexist in harmony, knowing that we are strong when we are together.

We invite you to a DISTRICT108 CONFERENCE that will take place in the eclectic city of Vilnius, Lithuania, where you will meet our four divisions! Each amazingly multicolored and distinct – all united under the District banner "HARMONY IN DIVERSITY"!

We invite you to the conference that is flavored by a key-note speech by the 2nd place winner of the World Championship of Public Speaking 2019 – LUISA MONTALVO!

Grasp this amazing opportunity to dive into the diversity and harmony of the multinational District 108 full of bright speakers and leaders. See you in May, 22-23 in Vilnius!

Join us on facebook!

Still we do remember that before the big district conference we also hold DIVISION CONFERENCES and right now we're in the middle of the autumn term!

Plan the visit to the cities of Opole and Tallinn in November!
Those of you who had a great opportunity to attend Division A & C conferences, check out the reports written by our District 108 authors & find yourselves at the photos!  And just along with these offline events we also offer you to attend our fresh new & a very useful WEBINAR!
We truly become better speakers and leaders using the Toastmasters 'learning by doing' system. But how to teach non-members the fundamentals of public speaking? How to plunge them into an atmosphere of a positive and friendly Toastmasters meeting outside of the club?

The SPEECHCRAFT PROGRAM is aimed at quickly giving others the basics of Toastmasters educational values and practices. It is also the quickest means by which people can jump right into the process of improving their speaking skills.

RADOSLAW DABROWSKI - an experienced Toastmaster, a master of implementing the Speechcraft program - will tell us more about this great initiative.

The webinar will be held in English. Join us on facebook and at zoom online meeting (https://zoom.us/j/699452543
) next WednesdayNovember 20th at 18.00 CET.

The webinar is held in ENGLISH.
Dear Club Leaders, it's the very time to get rolled into the 2nd round of the CLUB OFFICERS TRAININGS!

It has started on November 1st and will last for 4 months till February 29th 2020. Train your officers! Become the Black Belt Karate Warriors of your Toastmasters Clubs! :)

Please do use our District 108 presentation at your COTs. And don't leave behind a big pile of extremely useful training resources here.

Let's DO IT! :)

SECTION #3. MEMBERSHIP & CLUB GROWTH

We have just started the 2nd round of our ODYSSEY JOURNEY. Are you in? :)

If not yet, don't miss a chance to find your MENTOR or MENTEE and share your particular communication and leadership skills.

  • Fill out this online form and start making connections which will give you the opportunity to grow.
  • Join our closed facebook group to stay tuned on the project news and events!

Remember we mentioned the sweetest part of being a Toastmaster?

That's AWARDS and RECOGNITIONS! :)

Do you want to know which club in District 108 won the Smedley prize of $100? Who would get the ribbons and discounts on TI store purchases? Which clubs would get $50 reimbursement for achieving the commitment award?

Who of our club members turned out to be:

  • Distinguished Toastmasters!?
  • Club Ambassadors?!
  • Club Coaches?!
  • Accredited Contest Chairs and Chief Judges!?
OH, MY! We would have needed a separate newsletter just to name all of them :)

So we decided to open a special RECOGNITION SECTION on our district website! Wonder if you and your club's name is in there? Don't waste a second, go check! :)

And since it's also a members' section of the newsletter we want you to meet one very prominent member of ours. We bet you already know (or at least heard of) Muhammad Zain Ul Abidin!

He is the AREA DIRECTOR of the D108 in 2019-2020, the DOUBLE DTM (OMG!) and a FOUNDER of several Toastmasters clubs! How did he make it all possible within only 3+ years in Toastmasters? Is that MAGIC? :)

Get to know him better and learn his secrets in this interview!

SECTION #4. USEFUL RESOURCES

Last but not least :) A true Toastmaster is always learning and looking for new knowledge and experience. So in this section we'll give you some more useful links to look, learn and share!
P. S. And if you haven't yet met me in person I would be glad if we get to know each other via facebook  before we meet in Vilnius the next May :) Feel free to add me as your friend there! I'm always here for you ;)

Thanks for being a part of our amazing District 108!
We are #STRONGTOGETHER!
