Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'll be both relieved and excited to see these again Harry! I think yours is like the Odysseus of Lambsfoot knives! :D

I am so glad that the Lambsfoot blade is finally being appreciated across the pond :) I hope you get some nice stag Keith. I have been lucky enough to get some good stag from Wright's lately, but I picked them out at the factory

Oh wow jack that looks great I hope the stag I get is close to that.

Mine's at the local PO, where the trouble started last time. Delivery expected today. If it isn't "Out for Delivery" pretty soon I'll know to go to the PO and beg.

I hope you don't have to take a couple of pipe-wielding friends with you Jer! ;) Please keep us all posted my friend :)

Thanks Keith, wile I was over at the factory a couple of months back, they had a handful of knives covered with Sambar, and I scooped them up. Since the Indian government stopped Sambar exports, the Sheffield cutlers have struggled to get decent stag. Wright's are mainly using Pere David stag I believe (and Sambar when they can get it). Here's their 'stag cellar' as witnessed by me and @herder when we were shown round the factory

My apologies, folks, for my absence over the weekend. As I spend much of my time in front of a screen during the work week, I try to avoid doing such on the weekends, which can lend itself to me appearing silent or standoffish on the forums. Nevertheless, another week has begun and I get to entertain/distract myself in betwixt lines of code by catching up on what I missed from the last few days.

Jack Black Jack Black , @lambertiana , r8shell r8shell , @Will Power thank you so much for your insight and information regarding the different ebonies and woods in general. As I have no real knowledge and/or experience myself when it comes to such things, I will certainly lean on your own and accept the conclusions that you all combined have come to. As there is a considerable variety of ebony wood to select and ponder, I should appreciate the differences when they pass through my hands and enjoy the notion that variety is indeed the "spice of life".

To those of you who have received your slips, thank you so much for the kind words, I truly hope you enjoy them. Hopefully the rest of you will receive them soon. Jack, yours and Chin's are in the mail, though I have no certainty as to when they will reach you. Hopefully within the week and hopefully they don't get held up in customs... This is the first time I've shipped internationally so I am a wee bit nervous, though the kind lady at the Post Office assured me all would be well .

Hope your Monday is going well, Guardians!

I don't blame you for taking a break from the screen Dylan :) Though I was a little worried you were too cramped up from all the sewing to type! ;) Thanks again my friend, I've not had anything go missing yet, so I don't see any reason to worry. I'm really looking forward to seeing your handiwork :) Interesting pic of your Blonde

@5K Qs I forgot to thank you, GT, for your thoughtfully composed observations regarding each of our Guardians edition Lambsfoot knives. Thank you so much, they were a delight to read!

Thank you for the confidence, Jack. I certainly hope you and the others enjoy them.

Superb example! Stunning on both sides, very nice!

Speaking of the chip butty... I endeavored to make myself one the other day, hopefully I stayed somewhat true to the idea, you British folk can steer me straight if needed...

So I stopped at the store and grabbed some potatoes. I tend to prefer red, golden, or purple potatoes when I eat them. They tend to be less dry, have more flavor, and I can turn them into anything really. I picked up a sack of goldens for this experiment, I thought they might lend themselves to being particularly suited to being consumed in a butty. I was on the lookout for a good brown sauce as I do not have one at home but the store I was at had nothing of the sort so I resorted to picking up the only malt vinegar they had on the shelf. After picking up some good white bread, I headed home for lunch.

After washing the potatoes, the Guardian Lambsfoot made short work of them, slicing them into manageable sections.

I do not have a deep fryer so I opted to just fry up the potatoes in some olive oil. Please forgive me if this happens to be a transgression...

While the potatoes (chips) were frying, I spread some butter on a couple slices of bread.

Chips are done, I am rather fond of pepper, so there is a liberal sprinkling of ground black pepper and some seasoned salt.

Laid them out, still hot, on the buttered bread and sprinkled some malt vinegar on them.

Cut it in half and consumed shortly after.

So my first butty was a bit dry I thought, but the flavor was surprisingly excellent. In the absence of brown sauce, I thought some ketchup might do. However, since my household does not consume much in the way of ketchup, I couldn't find any in my fridge so I made up another butty and was more liberal in my application of butter and malt vinegar and that particular one was most excellent. I am still going to get a hold of some good brown sauce and have another go at it but I can honestly say that this was a surprisingly rewarding experience and I am looking forward to my next one.
