You are invited to join a research study of long-haul truck drivers. This study is being conducted by researchers from the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Qualified participants are long-haul commercial truck drivers who are at least twenty-one (21) years of age. The purpose of this research study is to learn more about health risks and habits of long-haul commercial truck drivers.
If you agree to take part in this study, you will be asked to complete an online questionnaire. The questionnaire will ask about your personal background, medical history, employment history, tobacco use, physical activity and views of your job. It will take approximately 25 minutes to complete and can be completed on a desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone.
It is entirely your decision whether or not to join the study. Nothing bad will happen if you decide not to join the study. You can start the study and decide to drop out before you finish the questionnaire by simply closing the browser. You don't have to answer any questions you don't want to answer.
After you complete the questionnaire, you will receive a $30 Walmart gift card by mail for your time and effort. Your mailing address will not be linked to your survey responses.
We do not think this study involves any serious risk to you. However, as with any online related activity, the risk of a breach of confidentiality is always possible. We will keep your answers confidential, and we will not link your survey answers to anything that identifies you. Survey answers will be stored on a UAMS computer system, and only properly trained members of the study team will have access to the database.
