can u explain step to step what u do for to have gcam working??? i try all but cam dont start

thanks for help

Now i've uninstalled the API2 module because the front camera was upside down.....

But i've installed the magisk API2 Module, reboot the phone, then downloaded some gcamera version from the thread posted before. One of those worked good, but don't expect miracle.

Can you tell me which specific version did you download?
That background lens blur effect does work well? and HDR mode works aswell? Panoramic mode? :p

Not used panoramic or hdr. The version i guess is this one GCam_4.4.012.156195200_MI5S_MIUI_Android_7.0_PIXEL_II_XL_v.1.1.apk

Thanks!
For anyone trying to download, here it is:
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-ported/

And you MUST have Camera2 API enabled.. To do it:
Edit build.prop, create the string:
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
save and reboot.
If the string doesn't exist, add it.

This version is made for testing
    - Automatic management capture support level front and back camera (To fix devices that have a black screen), Could have bug for devices that have API2 HARDWARE_LEVEL_FULL
    - Added smoothing in HDR+
    - Fix test color in low light
    GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7beta-2.apk

If u have anny issues with Selfie Camera, just open /system/etc/camera/msm8996_camera.xml and search for these lines
    <Position>FRONT</Position>
    <MountAngle>360</MountAngle>
change "360" to "270", do it x2 [cause u have two identical lines]
It's working for miui.am, xiaomi.eu and China Dev, i don't know how fot others ROMs

    Could you post the APK?

I have already posted its link just 2 comments before. ;)

Mine is 3.2.045 (2821762.40), Resurrection Remix 3.8.5 update from December 13th.
Camera2 api was on by default.
I honestly use Google camera all the time.
But I did compare hdr+ with hdr from the snap camera that is on the Rom by default and in bright daylight not so much difference but in low light situations hdr+ really dona great job.

Well, for you it is different. You are not on stock miui but on LOS based rom where the camera is worse. In miui the stock camera is much better than the results from gcam 3.2.045. Here are some samples from stock (miui) camera to refresh your memory regarding its results :) https://www.flickr.com/photos/148406140@N05/albums/72157690436084675

By the way, don't use regular hdr in night shots. In contrast to hdr+, regular hdr is not meant for low light.

    Gcam from BSG

    I did an small tutorial!
    Check it here: *CLICK*

Thanks for bavoolek for instruction to install Gcam, but I just yesterday found good version of GCam from BSG: https://goo.gl/csBspb / MGC_3.2.045_final_2.2 (BSG, 2018-02-22, gcam 3.2.x, no config needed, android 6+, changelog)
You can try other Gcam 3.2.045., but that one was the best one with good hdr+ (smaller image size - around 7 mb) and front facing camera also have hdr+
    2
On the exif it has as software "scorpio-user 6.0...." and not "HDR+ 1.0...". So this is not an hdr+ shot.

    To sum up:
    • the gcam 4.0 or 5.1 for android 7 do not work at all
    • the gcam 3.2 for android 6.0 while it works (even on miui), when you switch it to "hdr+ on: it cannot take shots (the auto mode always shots regular photos)
    • the nx camera works on RR (or other LOS based roms) but it never takes shot with hdr+ (there is no hdr+ processing)
    • the above proposed gcam from APK mirror shots regular hdr and not hdr+ (it is not the port from google pixel)

Hence, the hdr+ does not work on our device... Until a developer fix the issues with hdr+, there is no reason to mess with any other camera. The improvements that you may see is just regular hdr which can be achieved with any camera (even with the stock miui camera). Thus, stop the wild-goose chase and enjoy your phone with your prefered rom :)
