Why is the research being conducted?
This research will examine the anticipated work-life conflict of student-mothers. Specifically, it seeks to investigate (1) how anticipated work-life conflict affects their job, family, career, and academic performance; and (2) what they can do to mitigate the impacts of anticipated work-life conflict.
What you will be asked to do
Participation in this research will involve completing three online surveys, six weeks apart. Each survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. You will be asked about your anticipated work-life conflict and related work, non-work and career performance. Upon completion of all three rounds of survey, there will be a prize draw for each participant to win one of ten $50 Woolworths gift cards. The terms and conditions of the prize draw are provided on the next page.
The basis by which participants will be selected or screened
You have been invited because you responded to "Call for Participants" published on Griffith University's Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing (WOW) social media platforms or the "Volunteer for Important Research Projects" website.
To qualify as a participant, you should be:
- 18 years old and above;
- A student enrolled in a tertiary institution;
- A mother with dependent or non-dependent child(ren); and
- Working full-time, part-time, or casually (preferably).
The expected benefits of the research
You may appreciate contributing to facilitating better work-life experiences for student-mothers.
Risks to you
It is unlikely you will experience any harm from participating in this study. However, if you feel at any point while completing the survey(s) that the questions are distressing or inappropriate, you may choose to end the survey(s). Your responses will not be recorded if you choose to end the survey(s) prematurely.
If distress persists, you are encouraged to seek help such as talking to your local GP, local health professional or someone you trust, or call Lifeline Australia 13 11 14.
If there is immediate risk to yourself or others, you are encouraged to seek immediate support via Emergency Services 000.
