Airbus today officially unveiled three concepts for the world’s first zero-emission commercial aircraft, which could enter service by 2035, that each represent a different approach to achieving zero-emission flight. All three of the aircraft use hydrogen as a primary power source, an option that Airbus believes holds exceptional promise as a clean aviation fuel as well as being a solution for aerospace and many other industries to meet their climate-neutral targets. The blended-wing body aircraft can seat up to 200 passengers comfortably, and its wings merge with the main body of the aircraft. Its range is similar to that of the turbofan concept, while an exceptionally wide fuselage opens up multiple options for hydrogen storage, distribution, and cabin layout.
