Be prepared for something different when you come to see Sol (Nik Thiessen). With an entirely original repertoire, ranging from the hilarious to the sublime - he will definitely entertain you. A multi-instrumentalist - he brings his music to life with guitars, violin and vocals - and using a loopstation he builds a huge live sound. Getting a shave in India His eight years globe-trotting, entertaining crowds from the streets of Paris to Peru, has given the inspiration for many of his songs. After his travels, he spent six years as the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for The Avant Bards, and performed at private parties for Nigel Kennedy, supported the Ozric Tentacles and gigged around the UK and in Holland. He has recorded extensively and is a prolific singer songwriter and composer. His works range from his first orchestral piece in 2005, through soulful and sincere songs for picked guitar and solo voice, to up beat surreal tracks for a whole band. Influenced by master singer songwriters such as Donovan, Leonard Cohen and John Lennon, each of his songs has a message for the listener. He is involved in various musical projects: Sol, his pub act which earns him his bread and butter, and Know I Dear is a wacky three piece which takes delight in creating wacky upbeat music. He has also been involved in theatre, and toured a winter and summer pantomime around the local area, and played at festivals, including Glastonbury. He has finished recording an album 'Into The Path', which you can download for free from his website. The album was inspired after spending ten days alone in the mountains of Italy. His other music is inspired from his travels in India and Nepal, gaining inspiration from Buddhist teachings. You can listen to all the latest music from across the two counties on the Friday Session Introducing... every week from 7pm, on BBC Hereford & Worcester.last updated: 16/01/2009 at 23:18 Have Your SayHave you ever seen Sol live?
