RAIL bosses have promised to increase the number of seats on the Borders Railway, from next week.
A further 1,500 will be added on the Tweedbank to Edinburgh line each day from next Sunday.
Just seven services between Monday and Friday will run with two carriages, as opposed to the current 13.
And as part of the improvements, the 7.26am and 7.59am trains from Tweedbank will now have six coaches, rather than three.
The changes come as part of a new timetable introduced by ScotRail, which also includes opening a new station in Glasgow.
David Simpson, the company's operations director, said: "The improvements we are making to our timetable from December will deliver even more benefits for our customers, delivering more seats, more services, and a new station in the north east of Glasgow.
"The £475 million investment in new and upgraded trains and the infrastructure improvements across the country are all part of building the best railway Scotland has ever had."
