Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Is that the one with Navy stamped on the blade that we discussed quite some time ago Jack?
Yes I know I have a couple of Lambsfoot's around.

Words like 'Express' and 'Priority' seem to take on different meanings when it comes to shipping, I was hoping a couple would have arrived this weekend, as I shipped the first ones eight days ago now
I hate it when you check the tracking, and the package doean't seem to have moved for 4-5 days!!
:rolleyes::(:p

Truth! Tracking shows mine is at the post office, but they sometimes like to wait an extra day before actually putting it in the PO box, especially before a three day weekend. It's okay, I've had such a stressful week I probably couldn't have enjoyed it, now I have something to look forward to on Tuesday. :)

I had my Ebony Lambfoot out to take a quick snap, and this curious fellow flew down to investigate.:)

That Kookaburra when you study it has a tough Beak!
I was wondering what kind of bird that is. So that's a kookaburra, are they always so friendly?

Beautiful lambfoot, Jack. I can't quite read the tang stamp, is it unusual for Sheffield cutlers to use a steel pivot pin?

Hmmm....I have been waiting in all morning for a courier delivery myself - and they haven't shown up! Sorry to hear about your stressful week r8shell, I hope you are soothed by the Lambsfoot! :D

Thank you :) Not at all, though I have a few with repair jobs which look like they have been done with a nail! :D

Thanks for the progress report Archie, sorry it's taking so long. That's good advice from Chin. You can also tape wet 'n' dry around your Sharpmaker rods

not a big deal, im sure itll come together soon enough! all good things to those who wait :D:D:D

Customs will probably have become so inured to these Jack Black packages that they'll just wave mine through. Yeah, that's it.
Or they'll have become so intrigued that they swipe mine! Nah. ...

Hope not Jer!

Now THAT is some serious horn! One of my most favorite handle materials.

Is there a generally accepted term for the features of buffalo horn? Streaking? Striping? Highlights?

Thank you :)

Not so far as I know, it's all a little different...

They are, r8shell, my friend. I always enjoy seeing and hearing Laughing Kookaburras in the bush. You do need to watch any food you have in your hand though, during outdoor BBQs! They're masters at swooping down and leaving you with a puzzled look and an empty hand!

They're also the reason why, despite Australia's reputation for many deadly snakes, if you see a snake in the wild, they're often slithering as fast as they can to get to cover before a Kookaburra scoops them up!

Sorry to hear you had a rough week, my friend. Hopefully, you'll have something Lambfooty in the mail soon, to cheer you up.:)

That would have worked quite nicely.
Oh well, mine's one of a kind.

True, Jer, and definitely a piece to be proud of.

Well, I was driving through the bush this weekend, and the weather was so nice, I decided to head home and grab my swag and pack, and a book, and camp out last night.

When I got home, there was a package waiting for me.;)

I tore into it like a starving wolverine!

Oh wow! I'm dumbfounded at the moment, so I'll let the pics do the talking!:)

Jack even included a reminder of a pleasant evening we enjoyed in the Red Deer pub, earlier this year!;)

After pouring a celebratory pint, and taking some pics, I gave it my customary flushing out with mineral oil and a closer examination. I'm well impressed, Jack - you and the lads at A. Wright and Son should be proud! What a stunningly beautiful Lambsfoot rendition, my friend. Just superb in every aspect!

We're going to spend some time together on the stones this evening, and this beauty is going straight in my pocket!

Salud, mi amigo!:cool::):thumbsup:

Wow Chin, I always look forward to your posts :) It must be great to be able to get out into the bush like that, nice-looking swag, and great pics of your ebony Lambsfoot  But I nearly dropped my coffee when I scrolled down and saw your Guardians Lambsfoot, not only because they are fantastic photos of a beautiful knife, but because you got it so fast! I know it says 'AIR MAIL', but with the usual speed of international shipping, you kind of suspect they are using carrier-pigeons really! Very nice my friend, what do you think to that horn eh? :) I'm looking forward to seeing more of that one in the months and years to come :) You won the 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot race! :D I wonder who is going to come in in second place? ;) Can't wait to see those pocket sheaths too :)

Chin, your comments about the swooping Kookaburras at BBQs reminded me of the brazen seagulls along the shores of Lake Huron where we vacation each summer! :D:mad::D

In the Beverages and Blades thread (I think), I compared the covers of your new Guardians' Lambsfoot to brush strokes, but what strikes me in the pics above is how similar to tree rings the pattern in your horn handles is!! Unforgettable, I suspect! Congratulations!!:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I thought the same GT, really beautiful, I'm reminded of the striations in ivory. The pattern is quite hypnotic! :)

Wow- THAT- is one very nice looking Knife!
Well done all!

Thanks Duncan, I guess this is just whetting the appetites of those lucky Guardians who are looking forward to receiving one of these in the mail soon.:)

Thanks very much Jack.:)

I guess it must be true about the watched pot never boiling, and vice versa - as I'd decided to take a philosophical approach to the arrival of this one, and thought 'It'll get here, when it gets here.' In truth, I've been so pleased with finding my Ebony Lambsfoot again, that I hadn't given the ETA of this knife much thought.

But it was very quick.

And those seamless, glassy smooth covers are very beautiful: maybe it's just because I've seen paintings by these artists recently, but the oil paint brush stroke-like patterning, reminds me of Goya and Turner.

I'm also very much looking forward to how this knife will develop over the years, and I'll scribble a few more notes about it, over the next couple of days.

But for now, suffice to say, I'm blown away by how well executed this beautiful Lambsfoot knife is.

I know I've said it before, but you and the A. Wright crew really ought to be proud of this run.:thumbsup:
