Pragya Thakur removed from India’s defense panel for calling Nathuram Godse as a patriotic personality

NEW DELHI, India—After coming under fire for Pragya Thakur’s remark on Nathu Ram Godse, the BJP today stopped Pragya Thakur from attending the ongoing parliamentary session. Beside it, the BJP has also removed Pragya Thakur from the consultative committee on defense.

Notably, Pragya Thakur was recently appointed in India’s consultative committee on defense.

Announcing disciplinary action against Pragya Thakur, BJP’s working president J P Nadda told the reporters that the statement given by MP Pragya Thakur is condemnable. “BJP never supports such statement and we do not support this ideology. We have decided that Thakur will not attend meetings of BJP parliamentary party during the session,” he said.

On November 27, Pragya Thakur had termed Nathuram Godse as a patriotic personality when DMK member A Raja was narrating a statement of Nathuram Godse on why he killed Mahatma Gandhi.
