You are a wonder - the two Scott's I have read are from the decade before. These lists are a bit like your timeline idea.

Removed #2, 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - Graphic Novel'.
'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' by Washington Irving is already present (#4). The graphic novel version is a recent illustrated adaptation that does not include the full original text as published in 1820. The original text is preferred.

Trilby is apparently from 1895. How do you remove a book from an inappropriate list? @goodreadslibrarians
Removed for wrong decade:
The Beggar's Opera (1728)
Flowers in the Mirror (1818)
Ivanhoe (1819)
The Betrothed (1840)
This "Trilby" isn't the 1895 novel, but a play from the 1820s.

Ah! Thanks, Susanna! :)

No problem. I confess I only gave the second page a once-over-quickly look, so if anyone sees something, do tell me.
For some reason, The Outermost House: A Year of Life on the Great Beach of Cape Cod by Henry Beston is on this list. It wasn't even published in the 1800s.
