GREENE COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – The former Greene Valley Developmental Center worker now charged with abuse faced state disciplinary action a year before her alleged crime.

Greene County grand jurors indicted Alysia Ann Prater this week on the charge of abuse of a dependent adult. She’s accused of using a shoe to slap a woman with a disability in the face in 2014.

Although Prater denied the allegation, she resigned that year after a Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities internal investigation substantiated abuse.

That DIDD investigative file reveals it wasn’t her first time in trouble. Public records show she received a written warning in 2013 for texting on her personal cell phone while on duty. The report says staff informed Prater on “several occasions” that she wasn’t allowed to have her cell phone in her work area.

Prater previously worked as a developmental technician at Greene Valley. The alleged victim in this case suffers from mixed epilepsy, bipolar disorder and more, according to state records.Copyright WJHL 2016. All rights reserved.
