JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (WABC) -- A man was arrested in connection with the hit-and-run crash that killed a deaf man who was struck while standing at a bus stop in Jersey City.
The 19-year-old man, believed to be the driver, was arrested late Thursday afternoon.
A 16-year-old was also questioned by police, and authorities say they are still searching for a third suspect.
The victim was killed Tuesday morning during a police pursuit. The stolen SUV was being chased by sheriff's officers throughout Jersey City before 33-year-old Umar King was hit.
King was a fixture of the Jersey City deaf community, and he taught sign language when he wasn't working for FedEx.
"I cried a lot yesterday," the victim's brother, Raheem King, said. "I'm trying my hardest not to cry, because I want to be strong for my mother. And I just don't know how to feel right now, because I lost a brother. My only brother."
Raheem King said the arrest did lift a weight off his shoulders.
Students, friends and other loved ones hugged Wednesday night, wiping away a fountain of tears at a vigil.
"He was a church-going person who had a big heart," one friend said. "He was a great person, and when he loved, he loved a lot. He was such a happy person who brought smiles to everybody."
