CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Rather than focusing on arranging sufficient medical equipment to fight Covid-19 and arrange PPE for medical staff, the Indian PM Narendra Modi had appealed the Indian masses to light candles for 9 minutes at 9 pm on April 5. 

As expected, Modi’s unruly followers come up with an insane response to Modi’s call by bursting firecrackers and taking out processions while violating the lockdown norms. 

Bursting of firecrackers caused fire incidents at several places, including burning of more than 20 houses in Chennai.
