CLEVELAND, Ohio - A man with a developmental disability was shot in the head and killed on New Year's Eve, Cleveland police say.

The 18-year-old man was found about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, lying on the ground near the intersection of Kenyon Avenue and East 65th Street in the city's Broadway-Slavic Village neighborhood, Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said. Paramedics took him to MetroHealth where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives learned that the man had just finished his shift at a nearby Rally's restaurant and was shoveling snow, Ciaccia said. The investigators found a snow shovel near where the victim was found.

Investigators also learned about the victim's developmental disability and discovered that he lived at a group home near the shooting scene, Ciaccia said.

Police have not said whether any suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the fatal shooting should contact Cleveland police homicide detectives at 216-623-5464.
