Next to home - and maybe work - where do we spend the vast majority of our time? For most of us, the answer to that question is in our vehicles. And while we often take time to prepare for emergencies at home, we rarely have the same semblance of preparedness when we get into our car, van, or truck and leave.

In Mom on the Run, I'll walk you through the creation of your own step-by-step on-the-go preparedness plan which will effortlessly have your most needed items at your fingertips whether you're at the playground, in a store, or out with a friend.

Get lost in aless-than-desirable area of town, Mom on the Run discusses keeping your family safe both in and out of your vehicle. Stuck at the doctor's office or at the DMV and the kids are climbing the walls? Mom on the Run has suggestions. Preventing, containing, and/or cleaning up from motion sickness accidents? Mom on the Run's got you covered.

You'll get guided, simple, step-by-step instructions including:

  • Nine questions to ask yourself to build your own effective and personal Everyday Carry (EDC).
  • Guidance on how to set up your vehicle with economical family-specific emergency preparedness kits that will cover all of your family's needs for when you're around town.
  • Organizational tips for your vehicle preparedness kit so that you can find anything that you need at a moment's notice.

You'll also . . .

  • Garner alternate ways of communicating with loved ones during an emergency.
  • Discover the strongest, most compact cordage that you can carry. Hint - it's not paracord.
  • Identify the most effective, condensed, and easy-to-access way to carry quantities of OTCs in your bag.
  • Determine which highly effective protection tool you are never without - and no, it's not your keys or your concealed firearm.

If you're a woman into preparedness, you've likely prepared your home for life's emergencies, but you need to prepare your own person with everyday carry essentials for women. You should prep your "around town van" with items that you may need while you're on the go. If you're looking for one of the best prepper books of 2024, look no further than Mom on the Run. Karen Morris: a devoted Christian, wife, homeschooling mom, and enthusiastic prepper. She's a multi-talented individual with a diverse range of interests. As an author, blogger, and Trekkie, she adds a unique flair to her journey towards self-sufficiency and preparedness.

Karen's path to preparedness began unexpectedly with couponing, amassing a stockpile of essentials that unintentionally laid the groundwork for her family's self-reliance. A pivotal tornado experience highlighted the importance of having both provisions and the means to use them when displaced. Further encounters, like the Ferguson riots and a harrowing knife-wielding attacker, underscored the significance of mental readiness.

With a heart for equipping others, Karen offers actionable insights and advice for families to navigate life's uncertainties. Whether through her writings, videos, or speaking engagements, she empowers individuals to take incremental steps toward preparedness.

Today, Karen resides on a thriving mini-homestead in Illinois, sharing her journey through books, blogs, and social media.

Through her resilient spirit and wealth of experiences, Karen Morris is not only a beacon of inspiration but a practical guide for families seeking to secure their future. In a world of uncertainties, she continues to remind us all that preparedness is not just a lifestyle – it's a mindset that transforms challenges into opportunities for growth.

Small book packed FULL of information
I appreciate a book that doesn’t prattle on for no particular reason. Karen Morris gets right to the point. Gives you everything you need to think about in each section. Asks all the tough questions, and leads you to actually THINK about what you may need as you leave your home and venture out into the unknown. At the end she even provides a checklist. Even though I feel like I am pretty prepared to go out into the world, I learned so much and plan on revamping my EDC and my Vehicle.

After reading this author's first book, this popped up as a recommendation, and I was surprised. I'm not a mom (to people anyway 😊), but who doesn't need to be better prepared in this day and age? There is always something popping up and being prepared is something I've been learning about for years. This book gave me some really good, practical advice. Tips and tricks on how to get myself a well thought out EDC with ideas for additional items and upgrades to my current purse kit. Plus ideas for prepping the car for those little out and about emergencies or situations that pop up! I'd recommend this book for any woman, mom or not, who wants ideas and easy ways to get prepared and feel more comfortable and confident in day to day life.

I've always known vehicle preparedness and Everyday Carry (EDC; i.e., a backpack of basic supplies) was a good idea, but actually DOING (amassing, evaluating, and assembling such a bag) just hadn't come to fruition -- for years! Getting that aspect of my life organized and prepared was like trying to untangle a very knotted ball of yarn. I'd try to untangle it for a few minutes and then just toss the ball to the far corner to think about another time. This book is the ultimate untangler! While I thought it would be lists and general tips for what to put in a backpack or in my vehicle to be prepared for emergencies, I've realized this book is SO MUCH MORE than that! Karen has written about all those things, but she didn't stop there. She has also given us DETAILED STRATEGIES for handling situations that catch us off guard. She has thought it through for us -- and she tells us how to get from overwhelmed to organized in a very friendly, conversational style. It really does feel like she's sitting right across from you, just sharing from her wealth of insight and knowledge. The book has examples from her own journey and from others, so it is very easy to make clear and tangible applications from those situations to my own life and routines. All in all, this book breaks down EDC and vehicle preparedness into bite-size, do-able pieces. I think that messy ball of yarn doesn't stand a chance now!

Due to various things in life I tend to have back up plans for backup plans, for back up plans. Someone dear to me has severe disabilities and every trip out can bring surprises. And frequently does. I try to keep things on hand to handle most, if not all, of the surprises that get tossed our way. My friends, only slightly joking, say that I have plans A to Z. And seriously say that I have at least plans A through E. I was intrigued by this book and wanted to see if it would help me spot any gaps in my plans.

I can't say that it helped me spot any gaps, but it did make me rethink through my plans and preparations. It made me consider what parts are working and what parts might need changing out or updating. And at the level that I do it, which is must deeper than most people do it. It's got my brain working on a few things to see if I can make them smoother or simpler.

If you want a good, comprehensive walk through the creation of an EDC kit and/or a vehicle kit this is it. There are no pre-made lists in this book. She walks you through creating your own lists and gives you ideas. This is the best way to make sure that your supplies fit your family.

This book has a fresh, out-of-the-box, way of looking at preparedness. If you're a prepper with a fully stocked go-bag, you'll still benefit from this take on everyday preparedness. If you have no interest in being a prepper, but you'd like to handle small emergencies better, this is the perfect place to start. And whatever your situation, the 7 questions she has you ask yourself as you decide what to carry in your purse or car are so very insightful and can apply to many other areas of life!

Whether you are a life long prepper or someone who is just thinking about how to be better prepared for life's unexpected moments, this guide is a fantastic resource. Morris has put together an easy to follow, logical way of looking at how to prepare yourself to meet the needs of every day life. Not only do you see the 'what' of Morris's system, but more importantly, you will see the 'why' and understand how to optimize so that not only do you have what you'll need, but also have it WHERE you need it. A definite must have for anyone looking to avoid getting caught with their pants down by life's hurdles.

This book is for anyone looking for practical advice on how to be more prepared for the things that life tends to throw at us, whether it be what you carry on your person everyday or keep in your vehicle. Most books I’ve read on these subjects tend to come from a man’s perspective, so it’s very refreshing to hear from a woman’s point-of-view, who also happens to be wife and mother!

I have enjoyed Karen’s past books, so I was already looking forward to reading Mom on the Run. As a mom of five I have worked to be prepared as we are on the go a lot. I wasn’t sure there would be new information for me, but wow was I impressed! I love how Karen presents the needed information. The quotes are inspiring and eye opening! There were many thoughts presented in a different way than I had been approaching them. Karen has done a great job with the information in this book! I highly recommend to anyone! Thank you Karen!
