Dell Alienware's first QD-OLED monitor will launch this spring for $1299

Dell Alienware's first monitor with a QD-OLED panel, and possibly the first QD-OLED display from any brand, will launch this spring for $1299, the company has confirmed.

QD-OLED gaming monitor

The first QD-OLED monitors and QD-OLED TVs were unveiled at CES 2022 last month. The Alienware and Samsung QD-OLED curved monitors are designed for gaming with 3440x1440 pixels, 175Hz refresh rate, and 0.1 ms response time. QD-OLED is a new type of OLED panel from Samsung Display that uses blue OLED with quantum dot converters for red and green. This structure lets it reach visibly higher color saturation than LG Display's WOLED panel, known from OLED TVs, and notably higher brightness than Japan OLED's RGB OLED panel, known from existing <40-inch OLED monitors. Dell has now confirmed that its monitor will cost $1299 when it launches this spring. The price is lower than anticipated and considering that this is the suggested retail price of an Alienware premium monitor, QD-OLED in general may actually be attainable for many buyers in 2022. - "We're excited to announce that the Alienware 34 QD-OLED Gaming Display will arrive early this Spring for $1,299 USD," the company said. The announcement was accompanied by this photo.

The Dell Alienware AW3423DW features DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, and Nvidia G-sync Ultimate certification. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments. The monitor comes with a 3-year warranty that covers burn-in too. For more specifications on the 34-inch QD-OLED panel see our first look article here. FlatpanelsHD saw the Alienware QD-OLED monitor in action at CES. Samsung is also planning to launch a 34-inch QD-OLED monitor this year, the Samsung Odyssey G8QNB. It has not been formally announced but was confirmed during CES.
