Two policemen were killed and six others were abducted after Taliban militants attacked an Afghan police outpost early Sunday in northern Afghanistan, police said, DPA reported.

"(The) Taliban attacked a local police outpost in Darzab district at around 12:00 am (1930 GMT Saturday), when all the policemen were sleeping," Abdul Mannan Raoufi, a police official for Jowzjan province said.

"They attacked the outpost with the cooperation of a policeman who was their infiltrator, killing two police and kidnapping six others," Raoufi told dpa.

He said two other policemen fled to safety.

"The attackers also seized all the weapons and ammunition from the outpost."

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

On Friday, Taliban insurgents overran an Afghan army outpost in a remote village in eastern Kunar province, killing all 13 soldiers stationed there.
