The Moose Jaw Police Service is warning people in the city there’s a chance they could bump into a cougar today.

The police service said in a media release they received a report of a cougar in the city’s northwest area at about 12:15 a.m. Monday.

A doorbell security camera caught an image of the big cat wandering by a home in the 900 block of James Street. The release said the feline was crossing a home’s yard.

By 9 a.m. Monday, neither police or conservation officers had yet found the cougar.

The police service urged the public not to approach the cougar or try to chase it off. Residents are asked to call the police service if they see the cat.
