Ed Gray, a former Gulf Breeze mayor whose home was raided in early August by law enforcement, retired from working with the city Tuesday as the investigation into him for unknown causes continues.
The city initially said on Tuesday night that Gray resigned, then later said he retired.
Gray is employed by the city of Gulf Breeze as longtime executive director of the Capital Trust Agency, the city's bond issuance arm. The company issues hundreds of millions of dollars in bonds to fund mostly construction projects throughout Florida.

His retirement is effective Sept. 30, according to the city.
Authorities have not said why they're investigating Gray. Gulf Breeze Police Department Chief Rick Hawthorne told the News Journal a complaint was forwarded to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the FDLE raided Gray's Gulf Breeze home in early August.
He has not been arrested or charged with anything, and the city has said there's nothing to indicate the investigation has anything to do with city finances.
