Glasgow Rangers man has COVID-19

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie has alarmingly been diagnosed with the Coronavirus, whilst playing on loan for Portsmouth.

The League One side announced that he was their fifth player to contract Covid-19.

McCrorie is the first player connected with Rangers to test positive for the virus and it must have been a shock to the system for him given the lack of symptoms.

Hopefully, that will continue to be the case and after some time in self-isolation, he’ll fight it off to make a full and speedy recovery.

He’s received plenty of support from both Rangers and Pompey fans on social media after each club made announcements out his condition.

What a situation for the young Rangers star and for his Ayrshire parents. He is back in his Glasgow flat to self-isolate and make a speedy recovery.

McCrorie moved to Fratton Park last summer and has a bright future at Ibrox.

A Rangers statement given to the PA news agency read:

“On behalf of Rangers Football Club, we pass on our best wishes to our first-team player, Ross McCrorie.

“Although Ross is currently on loan to Portsmouth FC, we have been in regular contact with him.”

Rangers’ medical Doctor Mark Waller and sporting director Ross Wilson have already been in contact with McCrorie, who should make a full recovery.

The hard-working midfielder is well-liked among the Rangers fans, many of whom feel he has a bright future in the starting XI.

Here’s hoping McCrorie is fit and firing for the Gers in the near future.
