Police have laid charges against an Alliston man who was a former group home worker and is accused of sexually assaulting several adults living with disabilities.

According to York Regional Police, investigators received information on Feb. 7 about the alleged sexual assault of several people who have cognitive and physical disabilities.

The alleged assaults happened between 2009 and 2013 when the suspect was employed by Christian Horizons as a group home employee in York Region.

Investigators say there were a total of eight adult victims, both men and woman.

The suspect, Jose Munoz-de-Rueda, 44, was arrested on Feb. 7 and charged with eight counts of sexual assault.

He is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on March 29.

Investigators want to ensure that there are no further victims and are also asking anyone with information to contact them.
