Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

That is a wonderful index put together by WhittlinAway!!! Is there a way to make it a sticky in the beginning of this thread? I had to go back several pages to find it again.
Thanks for the reminder of missing pictures and I will go back and ad what I can.

I think it's going to be a really helpful feature. When it's completed, I can either add it to the beginning of the thread or add a link

I would have guessed lambsfoot, from the length of the curve to the point. Is the blade broader by the tang than behind the point?

Hard to tell I think, but it still looks like a Sheepsfoot, which has seen some use to me, but I'd certainly accept S-K's opinion. I have a larger Butler Sheepsfoot, and also this Rase Knife, with a Sheepsfoot

Greg is currently putting a lot of work into making a full index for the thread :) Looking through it though, there are still a lot of posts with pictures missing due to the Photobucket code no longer being supported. This makes it harder to produce a full index, and can make some of the discussion harder to follow. It'd really make a difference if the Guardians concerned could edit their posts, and either upload images directly via BF, or post alternative (non-Photobucket) code from another image hosting service  I'd be grateful for your assistance folks  - smiling-knife smiling-knife (posts 19, 75, 114, 319, 331), @supratentorial (posts 116, 237, 255, 256). @philllll (post 182), @bonzodog (posts 185, 204, 215, ), mazdamattc (post 233), @StoneBeard (post 294), @ADEE (post 296), @mike Berkovitch (post 316), @Campbellclanman (post 341), H herder (posts 426, 433, 449, 468) - That's just the first 25 pages! - Thanks to everyone who has already taken the trouble to edit their PB-affected posts

If it makes it easier for any of these folks, there's a workaround where you don't have to post your photo elsewhere. When you edit your post, in the IMG tag for the Photobucket-hosted photo, all you have to do is add "~original" after .jpg and the photo will show up again.

Here's an example:

Each beautiful in their own way!! Nice ones Ron!!
Thank you Charlie!:)

Great stuff Ron, with the weather we've had here recently, I imagine they are glad to get warmed up! :D

I thought I'd carry some stag today  Have a great weekend Guardians

Jack I hope you stay warm and dry my friend! Hope you will get some nice weather for the holidays! :) That beautiful Sambar is enough to brighten up the gloomiest day!:thumbsup::D

Good Morning, Jack. Cold and wet here in the Pacific Northwest, but I thought I'd share this Wade & Butcher I just picked up with you.

Good morning my friend, hope you're keeping well, and staying warm and dry in spite of the weather :) That's a very nice Wade & Butcher, but most definitely a Sheepsfoot rather than a Lambsfoot

Pie 'n' Peas is traditional in pubs here, usually a meat pie with mushy peas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushy_peas). This pie was a little different, not least for having a mashed-potato topping, rather than pastry, it tasted a lot better than it looks in this photo! :D I have never been fond of mushy peas, so opted for baked beans. Henderson's Relish too, of course! ;) :D

Those stag lambsfoots look great!
What are the odds that I'll get a good one from A. Wright? I'm really loving the Lambsfoot but with the lack of quality control I've been reading about I'm hesitant to take the gamble.

Jack, I have added the picture for post 468, but posts 426 and 449 actually show Sheepsfoot and not Lambsfoot models.
I think we were still sorting out the differences between those models early on and have since dedicated this thread to Lambsfoot models only.
Do you still want those older pictures added? If so, I have a few while others will have to be found and re-shot.

As was suggested I edited and added ~original right after .jpg in the linked post. It's one of smiling-knife smiling-knife . It works. Question is will PB put a squash to it at some point in time? Hate to see folks editing, and sometime in the future find they have the same problem. I wish I could take on the task of editing all of them but I'm afraid they'd have to lock me up in the very near future.

Thanks for re-explaining what btb01 had suggested. I am a bit technically challenged and computers are more my foe than friend, but I will try this.
I think you are correct though in that Photo Bucket may eliminate all non paid access to pictures in the future.

I don't think it's so much of a QC issue. Sambar stag exports have been banned for some years now by the Indian government, and British stag lacks the same depth of character. Occasionally there's some old Sambar around in Sheffield, but you can't rely on that. If you're ordering by mail order, I think you'd be better going for one of the wood or horn models

Nice Paul, looks like that one goes back a few years too

Thanks a lot my friend, I think there may be other posts of yours affected too  This thread has ALWAYS been dedicated to Lambsfoot knives, and while many of the Sheepsfoot pics are posted here in error, it can sometimes be useful to give a comparison. That might apply to post 426. It may not apply to post 449. You're probably best placed to judge, but as a general rule, beautiful as they are, I'd rather not have pictures of Sheepsfoot knives here, unless they're being used to illustrate a particular point relating to the Lambsfoot pattern. Having said that, the many PB 'no longer supported' images in this thread (and throughout the site) are pretty ugly

Thank you very much for your help Gary :) I think you are right though, PB may indeed squash the workaround a some point. As a paid member, PB still works for me, and SUPPOSEDLY will do for at least another year, but for the purpose of this thread, I'm uploading directly, using the forum software

You can also upload directly, using the 'Upload a File' option

Happy to repost anything that is not showing from PB. Please let me know.

Thanks a lot S-K, the posts I noted above are for the first 25 pages of this thread, but any other PB links you've posted will also no longer show. Anything you can do to correct them would be greatly appreciated, it's a shame to be missing those great pics

Sorry, I should have been more clear in my post. I was referring to reports of badly bent blades and other fit/finish issues. I actually don't mind lesser quality stag as it all looks good to me, and those models are still quite more affordable than other knives with stag covers from other makers. I have no stag in my collection yet and I already need another Lambsfoot :D
