GOM software includes feature updates for inspection and motion analysis

GOM Software 2019 has been developed in line with customer requirements and includes a whole range of newly added features this year, especially for industry-specific applications. For example, in the virtual measuring room (VMR), the newly devised ‘Smart Teach’ function supports users even more effectively in automated measurement. When changes are made in CAD data, measurement positions are automatically updated.

Another highlight is ‘Virtual Clamping’, which is said to be a world first that virtually simulates the clamping of parts. Instead of clamping components in complex fixtures, as was necessary before, the latest GOM software module makes it possible to compute the clamped state of the part using the data of the real component in its free state. The measuring data obtained by FEM-based calculations are exactly comparable with the results of the part when clamped physically.

Furthermore, the analysis of surface defects has been improved in ATOS Professional, GOM Inspect and GOM Inspect Professional software packages. Sheet metal and plastic parts, for example, can now be checked against a master component to identify surface defects more easily.

The company is offering trial licences to demonstrate the latest features of GOM Inspect Professional to those who already use the free GOM Inspect software. Interested users have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the advantages of the Professional version free of charge for 30 days without any contractual obligations. This offer will in future also apply to GOM Correlate software for materials and motion analysis.

In the online GOM Training Centre, interested users can find tutorials and sample data sets for the current software version. Furthermore, the company is breaking new ground to offer advanced training that goes beyond regular classroom seminars. The platform is said to supplement the existing range of training courses with innovative teaching and learning methods. At training.gom.com, visitors can inform themselves of the measuring systems and different evaluation software suites, and thus discover which system can best solve their own testing requirements.

Training on software packages such as GOM Inspect Professional and GOM Correlate Professional is also available.
