BURBANK >> A 13-year-old disabled boy’s $5,300 three-wheel bike was found Thursday, five days after it was stolen from the parking garage of a Burbank apartment complex.

The gray-and-black bike was taken from a secured garage at 4524 Clybourn Avenue last Saturday, said Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco. The same thief also stole a sewing machine from the bed of a pickup truck in the garage, the sergeant said.

“An alert citizen, who saw the news reports on this case last night, saw the bicycle off the side of the road in the community of Silverlake this morning and loaded the bike into her vehicle,” Losacco said Thursday.

Investigators brought the bicycle back to the boy, the sergeant said. He said unspecified forensic evidence was recovered from the bike.

The suspect, who was captured on surveillance video, remains at large. He is Hispanic or white, in his mid-30s, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and between 160 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, a black-and-white beanie and dark jeans.

Anyone who spots him was urged to call Detective Aaron Kay at 818-238-3210.
