Differences in opinion and political affiliation should not destruct the peace and development agenda

Share

With the National day of Prayer and Fasting almost a week away from 18 October, the government has expressed concern over the increasing political violence being perpetrated by political parties in the country.

Kawambwa District Commissioner, Ivo Mpasa says it is unacceptable that incidents of violence, some resulting in loss of lives, are being reported in some parts of the country which has been declared as a “Christian Nation.”

He said the differences in opinion and political affiliation should not destruct the peace and development agenda of the country.

The District Commissioner has also condemned in strongest terms some opposition political party leaders for always criticizing everything and anything government does without providing alternative solutions.

Mr. Mpasa has since called upon the church to rise up and pray against the high levels of acrimony and intolerance among political players for the sake of peace and unity. The District Commissioner was speaking yesterday when he met members of the Clergy in his office during the preparatory meeting for the National Day of Prayers, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation.

And Kawambwa District Pastors’ Fellowship Vice-Chairperson, Gift Kamuzyu said it is the responsibility of the church to pray for the leadership of the country and its people for prosperity to thrive.

Reverend Kamuzyu of Pentecostal Holiness Church reaffirmed that Zambia is a blessed nation because she recognizes the supremacy of the Lord Jesus Christ in all areas of governance.

This year’s National Day of Prayers, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation will be held on Friday, 18th October under the theme, “Receiving Times of Refreshing from the Presence of the Lord through Reconciliation with One Another and the Environment for a Prosperous Zambia.”

  1. We just need that guy with no vision occupying State House to realise that he is Commander in Chief and president for all Zambian and he has sworn by the constitution to protect all Zambians. Period!

    • But one UNDER 5 wants to win at all cost! He is the reason Zambians who have known no evil against one another are being pushed too far. NAMWALA must NEVER be made to happen HAGAIN. We don’t need a person who shuns prayers, independence celebrations, instigates fires and uprisings, urges South Africa to do a coup on Zambia, supports sex against the order of nature, is a Privatisation Thief, money laundering thief and inside trading thief owning THREE MANSIONS to lead a Christian Nation! Nope!

    • Agony is calling for fasting when actually people have no option and are already fasting by force due to the hunger created by your poor leadership. You are dogs. In fact you are the testicles of a dog. I am tired of defending you zambian n.i.g.g.a.s to my white wife . I am running out of excuses

  2. Ivor Mpasa is just a fry amongst sharks, no one can hear him. The sharks will ask you to close your eyes and pray and when they say amen they’ll walk away with hefty allowances while you’ll go home hungry. It’s prayers of benefits.

  3. UPND no boycotting prayer this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your desire is to enter state house so lets pray this year for that desire because its God only who can help…………………..HH lets pray to prove that you are not satanist as they claim…………………

    • Let’s pray against ANTICHRIST to go into State House. It is only God who can stop him and has stopped him before. He can do it HAGAIN.

  4. HH to attend a day of National prayers will be great .That should be time also to reconcile with President Lungu.A spirit of bitterness and hatred is clearly seen in HH’s UPND.From this blog one can see how UPND people hates Lungu and hatred is beyond politics.UPND goes on campaigns with heavy heart of bitterness and ethnic hatred .When putting this on bigger picture 2021 general elections will be Marred with violence especially on UPND strongholds though as usual UPND will be blaming PF for causing Violence. Therefore it’s important for politicians to embrace love.

  5. Every election now, especially in the troubled areas, they national service should be deployed. They don’t care what your party is, you will learn kikikikikiki.

By the way my wife has bought new lingerie..do you zambians even know or buy lingerie. My zambian exes wore bambas. How can u seduce a man na bamba

  7. One of these days Zambia will be burned like sodom and Gomorrah. There is no sincerely in these prayers, if it were so, the atrocities perpetrated and perpetuated by PF and blind followers would have stopped. I am apolitical

  8. Its not for lack of belief that I say this, but please separate religion from state affairs. Leave religion in the private sphere – if they want, they can pray for the nation from that angle. There is absolutely no need or rationale to declare Zambia a ‘christian nation’, to have a ministry of religion or national prayer day. It’s a waste of time and diverts people from the real struggles that need practical realistic solutions. The whole charade about national prayer day or ‘christian nation’ smacks of hypocrisy and a continued propagandist endeavour to keep the veil on peoples faces. Zambia is a pagan nation, in the main, enmeshed in earthly lewd, corrupt and destructive behaviours. The PF then pretends to lead people to ‘prayers’, like meek sheep, while they remain behind to…

  9. If you are a one day in a year Christian go ahead and congregate on the designated open air area and express yourself praying whichever way for its for show! If on the other hand you are a regular religious person follow your congregation leadership and do it the usual established way you dont have to go to some ground so that you can be seen and counted! And if you don’t want to be part of this politically motivated hood winking just devote your time to something else to make a difference in your own life!
