Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) National Secretary Rapheal Nakacinda says there is no stakeholder in the dialogue process who has a “Devil Given Mandate” hence the need for the Church to stop using religion in their bid to escape accountability to the nation.

Speaking when he featured on a live interaction radio program dubbed “Live Issues” on Live Radio Nakacinda who is board member of the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue said there is no individual who carries a devil given mandate but that all stakeholders in the dialogue process like the media, NGOs, Civil society etc have God given mandates carried in their different roles as stakeholders.

The MMD CEO said all stakeholders in the process should be accountable without exception adding that the Church should not hide behind the veil of religion.

“All of us in this country have to be accountable in one way or the other. The Church have to be accountable, yes they are accountable to God but they have to be accountable to the people they are called to preside over. We are accountable to the people as well as to God.

“I read an article by Fr. Chikoya yesterday saying ‘it is our God given mandate’ I don’t understand who among the stakeholders has a devil given mandate? All of us have a God given mandate that we are undertaking the only thing is that we are playing different roles. They are the Church, we are in civic leadership and therefore; we must be able to interact and provide leadership that will achieve results required.”

He added ” This business of when you fail to argue a matter you run and hide in gerontocracy which is leadership by age should come to end. Sometimes as Africans when we are confronted with a situation instead of dealing with principle issues that are raised we sometimes run into religiosity, hiding behind the veil of religion, touch not the anointed ones, you see we are leaders of the Church, No! At this particular moment we are dealing with reforms, all of us must question each other respectfully of course so that the right thing at the end of the day is done.

    • Mushota is right. The mmd/pf vuvuzila Nakachinda should not drag the name of God in petty politics of his. He knows nothing about God’s mandate better he continues to eat in silence.

  1. The church is proving to be divisive in this matter. The church is selfish. Or these Roman Catholic “father’s” have I’ll intension.

    • Mwalife,
Do not drag the catholic priests into your oasis of ignorance it amounts to cursing yourself. Lungu and Nakachinda deserve your comment not catholic priests.

  2. Because he is a self ordained pastor in kafue thinks to defend the wrong things PF doing.PF is killing and arresting innocent people I think that is not God given but ???? given.

  3. Is it God given mandate to kill Shimunzila? is it God given mandate to call others satan..ist when you are ruling? Do not use the name of GOD when it only suit you? is it God given mandate to call those who do no attend National Day of prayers that they do not worship your GOD….
My brother just eat … it is your day ..

  4. Only Jonathan kamwendo is given a mandate by the devil to make the people of Zambia to suffer through corruption and hunger for the ordinary citizen, if u don’t agree ask Sunday Chanda the devils advocate, he will probably write a kama stup!d artical about it

    • Only HH has a devil given mandate to divide the country. When a woman says “No”, she means NO. HH is proving to be a criminal who should be charged for harassment because this is what his insistence to be president is proving to be.

  5. When the church enters the political arena, their role should be that of guidance rather than imposing that which the politicians may not appreciate. They should go to the national dialogue with an open mind ready to listen to the concerns of the politicians an? thereafter guide them with a view of reaching a general consensus. If they go with a pre-set state of mind, they may not gain the confidence of the politicians. After all, some politicians are already sceptical about their neutrality. So a lot of care and caution must be taken by the church.

  6. Hats off for Nakacinda. The one who has brought these division is the FREE… leader from opposition political party. You will agree with me that all these fights started when this FREE… assumed power. When he resign after losing 2021 this country will be cool and mature politics will seen once again. How do you have bitter people through and through.

  7. It’s Lungu who gave that mandate, not what you are talking about. What you don’t know is, he’s taming the opposition. Know this, if and when Lungu appoints you an outsider it means your party is threatening his party and position, kwasila.

  8. I strongly believe Zambia being declared a Christian nation was a mistake.. the declaration was never meant to serve the purpose to appease the heavens… that declaration was meant to serve the politician because I kid you not… in this country there is a systematic use of the Lord’s name in vain.. and almost every politician wishes to seem holier than the rest..be careful of people who shout Lord Lord.. for they shall not inherit the kingdom of God

  9. Why should the government build a cathedral or a house of prayer, let individual churches build their churches. It is the politicians hiding in the veil of the Church, so that people can think you are God fearing and yet not.God gave us a free will Cain killed his brother using free will. Was it God’s will or was it God’s mandate to kill Abel , no it was man’s evil intention because his offering was not accepted by God so he killed. In the same way politicians can rig election when an election has been rigged is that a God given mandate, possible it can be called a devil given mandate people of the influence of the human evil in ones heart to want to win by all means. So some may actually be having a devil given mandate.. Dont be saying the church is hiding under the veil of religion it is…

  10. Cont… Dont be saying the church is hiding under the veil of religion it is you the politicians trying to pretend hiding in the name of the church. When you want votes during election period and even before you visit churches and donate money hoping to influence voters that you are God fearing.
