Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

PT Luso For a moment, I thought those were full size bottles:eek::D Would be a MASSIVE knife then:cool:

... try mixing that Drambuie with an equal part of whisky for a Rusty Nail :)

I first saw a recipe for that here:

The recipe begins "never was a drink so aptly named", so I haven't tried it yet. :D

Edited: it's actually quite good. :)

That looks like a great book Greg! :D I first read the recipe as a teenager, and thought it sounded delicious (and easy to make)! :D I usually double-up on the whisky ;)

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend :) I had some guests last night, and I see a pile of washing-up in my near future! :D I was hoping to get over to Arthur Wright's this forthcoming week, but there's a series of rail strikes, so I think I'll have to leave it until the week after. Carrying my Guardians Lambsfoot again today :)

I enjoy the history (whether it is exaggerated or not...) behind Drambuie. That being said, I find it a wee bit sweet for my liking. I suppose being mixed with whisky might make it a bit more palatable...

I typically enjoy my whisky neat, unspoiled and unpolluted.

Hope the Guardians are having an exceptional weekend. Jack, I hope the rails get themselves sorted soon, and you can carry on with your plans.

Another pile side shot of this ebony that I have with me over the weekend.

I agree with you on the sweetness of Drambuie Dylan, hence the 1-2 whisky mix ;) If I add whisky, or in this case whiskey, it is typically Jameson's, I drink my malts on their own :)

I have been searching all over for a special knife I intended to gift someone- but haven't found it yet! o_O I think the problem is my pre-Xmas 'tidying-up'! I have been very short of time lately, and have a pile of knives I need to fettle, clean, and sharpen

Thanks my friend, I'm hoping to get over to Wright's the following week as I've promised to pick up a few things for various folks, and I also want to talk to them about a few things

That's a nice pic Dylan, I keep meaning to take a few pile-side pics, 90% of the ones I have taken have been taken by mistake! o_O :D

Hope you're having a great Sunday yourself

Man, you guys talking about Drambuie...I used to love the occasional rusty nail, I believe that Scotch whisky was required for that drink, it was a holiday drink that my father and I would share. I can't touch anything made from wheat, barley or rye anymore, since being diagnosed with a autoimmune disease...I miss the beer and whiskeys.

Jack, that shot by the seaside is really beautiful! And Padruig, that ebony is what I consider a perfect piece of ebony on a knife, it's really a special example.

What’s rail strikes Jack? Oh also if you do make it to Wright’s take a look at their stag for me. Saw a few on my wifes facebook that weren’t to impressive. I’m really wanting to pull the trigger on one just don’t want to get one I’m not happy with being so far away. Thanks in advance on that :)

Dylan your pictures are alway great looking and that ebony is great looking.

Ron that omelette fixings look delicious and the stag on that knife is really really nice. Is that a newer knife? I wish I could find any kinda of stag around here to hold before buying. I don’t like the whole sight unseen and wanting to add a stag to the collection
Well Guardians be well and be safe have a great Sunday

This morning I put my large Pere David Stag to work in the kitchen! :D That big blade made short work of our omelet ingredients! ;) I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Nice to see that one at work Ron :)

Sorry Duane, that's bad luck my friend :( I sure hope you're OK with the grape

Thanks for the compliment :)

Like with cutlery, there are options that get the job done;) my biggest longing is for proper breads, the alternatives are all lacking in one respect or another.

I found a vendor in the UK and couldn't resist having them ship me an Ettrick knife...I know it's not a Lamb foot, but they did have a good selection. I couldn't decide between their offerings on the Lamb foot knives...in time I will be a worthy participant here :)

That is rotten Duane :( There are plenty of good gluten-free ales here, but I don't think the gluten-free bread is any better :(

I would be wary of buying from a lot of online dealers. Here's the Ettrick thread: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/what-is-the-definition-of-ettrick.1119303/

It may have been a 2nd, but it is a dandy! The way the Stag is shaped it is extremely comfortable in the hand! I am growing quite fond of it! Thank you my friend! :)

Glad to help out Ron :) I must say, the more 'seconds' I've seen from Wright's, the more suspicious I've been of some of the Wright's knives being sold as 'firsts'

Thanks for that link Jack, I remember reading some of that thread before, it will be nice to revisit it. As to the sample I got, it is just to have one to fondle and test drive, any fit or finish things I should be able to fix...the thing that bugged me was there was no way to avoid the VAT...

You're welcome Duane, that's the place to discuss Ettricks  Yes, I have had a number of poor experiences with UK dealers myself, and I wouldn't fancy dealing with most of them from the other side of the pond

Here's another pic of the knife I'll be carrying tomorrow

Well Guardians be well and be safe have a great Sunday
Thanks Keith! :) The omelet turned out quite well. The asparagus and red peppers were especially nice and on sale this week at our local grocery store! The Stag knife is one of my newest Lambsfoot models. I wasn’t able to hold this one before buying, but a friend was! :) I totally agree with you about the sight unseen issues!

Yeah that is really nice stag. I have even ordered a few case knives where the stag looked great only to get what looked like the bottom of the barrel. So I am always hesitant to buy unseen now. Jacks stag are always stunning and I always enjoy looking at them. I have been looking at bulk stag to buy and seeing if glennbad can rescale a few knives for me.
On another note the cold here seems to be breaking for awhile it’s been bone chilling cold.
My wife saw that it was colder here in Northwest Indiana then in the north pole the other day. I also saw that for the first time you could drive from Canada to Mexico and not leave the windchill advisory. Hope any Guardians that live on the east coast have buckled down for that winter storm it looks terrible. We’ll talk you guys in a bit kids want to play a game.

Thank you so much for the recipe offer Mr. Jack, I'll try it.
As for Lambsfoot, I'm starting to like this variety of blade!!!

That's great to hear about the Lambsfoot my friend :) Rusty Nails were Oliver Reed's favourite drink apparently. I can't say I was a fan particularly, but the man certainly had more than his fair share experience of booze! o_O  :D

Sounds delicious Ron :) Stag varies so much that buying it sight and unseen is a real gamble. Because of the lack of good domestic stag, I think that is even more the case with British knives. If I find Wright's have had any more Sambar when I visit again, I'll buy all they have! :D

Thanks for the kind words my friend, I have been lucky I guess :) Hope things warm up for you there, and I share your good wishes for our friends on the east coast, stay safe folks
