STANTON – A 64-year-old man in a wheelchair died after being struck while on a sidewalk by a car that was in a chain-reaction, authorities said.

The 2:47 p.m. Tuesday accident occurred at Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue, with the man being taken to a hospital, where he died, said sheriff’s Lt. Wayne Rehnelt.

An Acura and Nissan Murano had been going southbound on Beach when the Acura came into contact with the Nissan, causing the Acura to lose control and go up the curb and run over the man, sheriff’s Lt. Lane Lagaret said.
