Upon entry officers found multiple dogs and cats in the house. Animal feces was found on the floor in every room, especially the kitchen area, and the odor of urine was so strong it was hard to breathe in the house, police said in the release.

A 21-year-old handicapped woman who lived in the home was removed for her own protection and safety, police said.

Brenda Kay Bohannon, 63, of Humboldt, was arrested and has been charged with willful physical abuse or gross negligence of an adult. She was taken to the Gibson County Criminal Justice Complex in Trenton.
