17-year-old mentally retarded girl sexually abused at special school

DINDIGULMore than 100 people from Virupatchi Sri Lankan Refugee Camp thronged the office of the Superintendent of Police here on Thursday afternoon, demanding action against some unknown persons who reportedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old mentally retarded refugee girl, staying in a private home-cum-school for special children at Angu Nagar here. When the girl had come home recently, she informed her parents that she was suffering from severe stomach pain. In a petition submitted to SP A. Saravanan, the parents of the girl said she was admitted to the home for basic education in 2015. The SP assured them that he would look into their complaint and take necessary action.
