UPDATE 4/11 10:10 p.m. — The Medford School District has released a statement on the allegations against Central Medford High School teacher Stephen Hackett that reads, “Our first priority is caring for the well being of our students and we will not tolerate any behavior that threatens that well-being. All district staff are trained at least annually on the requirements and expectations of their employment including their obligations as educators under state law.”
According to the district Hackett’s resignation was removed from Monday night’s school board agenda so they can move forward with Hackett’s termination.
Hackett has been a special education teacher at Central Medford High School. He was suspended on March 15th after the district became aware that he engaged in sexual misconduct with an 18-year-old female. Police said Hackett was cited on March 30th with one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor, and four counts of official misconduct.

Medford, Ore. – A local teacher has been suspended after allegations that he engaged in sexual misconduct with an 18-year-old student.
Police say that Central Medford High School special education teacher Stephen Hackett was suspended on March 15th after the school district became aware of his actions.
According to Police, Hackett was cited on March 30th with one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor, and four counts of official misconduct. The citations are the result of Hackett’s failure to perform the duties of a public servant.
Police say the student was not a special education student, and none of the activity occurred on school grounds.
