The death of a man at the Saskatoon Inn Saturday morning is being investigated as a homicide.

In a news release, the Saskatoon police service said officers were called to the hotel around 7:20 a.m. to see to an injured man in one of the rooms.

Police officers and emergency medical responders were dispatched and the man was declared dead at the scene.

Police say the major crimes and forensic identification units are investigating. Three squad cars were still in the hotel parking lot shortly before noon Saturday.

This is the city’s eighth homicide in 2020 and the fourth in three weeks.

On July 29, police responded to a call about an injured man in the 300 block of Avenue U South in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood around 2:30 a.m. The 21-year-old man later died. Arizona Sky Lagimodiere, 24, Trystin Spyglass, 23, and Sydney Mada Sikorski, 18, have been charged with second-degree murder.

Shortly after midnight on July 11, police received a call about a shooting in the 100 block of Avenue K South in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood. Dartagnan Whitehead, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. Stephen Alexander Swiftwolfe-Lewis, 18, Aidain Robert Lachance, 25, and Telaina Swiftwolfe-Lewis, 20, have been  charged with second-degree murder.
