The Tube's seen everything from wars to strange discoveries in Lost and Found

The London Underground has been around longer than any other subterranean transport system, so it has experienced some incredible things over the years.
Even seeing things like the stations themselves develop over time offers a great glimpse into the past, seeing what London was like for people decades ago - how similar, and different, their lives were.
The Underground is full of all sorts of secrets - from hidden and haunted Tube stations to one that was the home for immigrants who came over on Windrush.
These are just 23 photos we've found that show how the Underground has looked throughout its entire life, including some fabulous lost property discoveries, heart-wrenching war pictures and one that might just be the first picture ever taken on the London Underground.
