Although scientists believe that humans can survive without a meal for only two months, Kirby de Lanerolle from Sri Lanka claims that he has lived sans food for five long years.

According to a newspaper report, Lanerolle believes that there are energy sources that are greater than food calories. The breatharian, who also believes that calories come from photons, light, vibrations and wind, insists that the sole nourishment he has been taking in was fresh air.

In the last ten months, Lanerolle admits to having eaten only seven 500-calorie meals. While the stunning claim might be intriguing, the man without food is not shy to reveal that he feels feeble on eating a meal now.

According to a website report, Lanerolle was a drug addict in his teen days, but later went on to become a national level champion in rifle shooting, advisor to the Ministry of Social Services in Sri Lanka and an acknowledged entrepreneur.

Lanerolle, some years ago, read about people who did not consume food for up to six years. But what actually had a mammoth impact on his endeavour of keeping away from food were the writings of his guru. The writings illustrated the petrifying adversities associated with food, including increased probability of getting heart ailments and cancer.

His next mission is to educate people about the advantages of being a breatharian. Experts, though, are apprehensive about the negative repercussions that might be associated with such a lifestyle since numerous people have lost their lives in pursuit of possessing the 'breatharian' tag.
