I thought these speakers were great. I did what I could: read reviews on Amazon from verified owners and tech review sites. They were great for the 8 months that they lasted. I knew that planned unreadability is part of most technology these days, but I didn't expect it from a big company like Creative. I've bought several of their products before. Two MP3 players, the Zen X-FI and Zen Touch 2. Several Soundblaster Audigy series sound cards. I've never had a problem with it. So I thought, what the heck, I'll buy these speakers, they are in a good price range and honestly, they were great when they worked. The speaker construction is solid, the bass and treble controls are something you don't find on speakers in this price range (~$100), and the sound was very clear and uncolored. 8 months later, I turn on the speaker system, there is none of the familiar blue glow. I thought it might be the inverter it was connected to, so I connected it to another one, but still nothing. The power light on the transformer is no longer on. So I took an old multimeter and checked the output, 0.8 VDC. It should be 27 VDC. So the power supply gave up the ghost almost 8 months ago. I can't verify if this is the only problem, but since the power supply looks like a cheap Chinese rebranded power supply, it's a shame that Creative didn't choose a better supplier for their products. I posted a query on their support page, but that doesn't work either. Once submitted, the page closes. I will try another route. If you decide to purchase them, be aware that the power supply is probably only for a year. Very unfortunate. Check out what the guys from TheSoundExperts have in their stock right now.
