Kapurthala Court acquits Hardeep Singh Shera

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—A sessions court of Kapurthala today acquitted Sikh prisoner Bhai Hardeep Singh Shera and four others in a case registered against them under attempt to murder charges. Notably, Bhai Hardeep Singh Shera is currently languishing in Tihar jail of Delhi.

An FIR number 176/2018 was registered against Bhai Hardeep Singh Shera and four others under section 307 of IPC when Shera was lodging in Kapurthala jail. Later, he was transferred to Bathinda.

Sharing the development with media, Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur informed that the court of additional sessions judge Dr. Ram Kumar Singla today acquitted Bhai Hardeep Singh Shera and four others in this case. “The NIA had cited this case while requesting the NIA Court to transfer Bhai Hardeep Singh Shera to Delhi but now he has been acquitted in this case,” he added.

It is noteworthy here that Advocate Sukhwinder Singh Malhi was representing Bhai Hardeep Singh Shera in this case as a defense counsel.
