Verka residents seek apology for disallowing Nirmal Singh Khalsa’s cremation

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—A day after cremation of Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa’s mortal remains, the Verka residents have sought an apology for disallowing cremation in Verka’s crematorium on April 2. They have written a letter to the Punjab CM, SGPC president and several others seeking an apology for their “intentional or unintentional mistake”.

In this letter, the Verka residents have said that panic spread among people living nearby crematorium when they come to know about Khalsa’s crematorium and they started gathering there. They have further said that the Verka residents were having question in their mind that why the administration choose Verka’s crematorium when they had an option to cremate Khalsa’s mortal remains in any one of the local crematoriums of Amritsar.

The Verka residents have also denied the charges of humiliating Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa’s mortal remains while saying that the mortal remains of Khalsa remained in Guru Nanak Dev Hospital till final decision about choosing land for cremation.

The Verka residents have also refuted the allegations of denying cremation of Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa due to caste issue.

They have appealed the common masses not to give a political touch to this issue and conclude it here as the land for cremating Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa’s mortal remains has been donated by them.

In the last, they have demanded that the Antim Ardas of Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa should be held in Verka.

  1. Too late for apologies…any person has a right to a proper and dignified final journey,even those criminals who were hanged got dignity in death, and yet Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa was denied a dignified final journey. Shame on the Verka residents
