Sate Sate:Nkana gearing for San Pedro

Nkana striker Ronald ‘Sate Sate” Kampamba has described Saturday’s 2018/2019 CAF Confederation Cup first leg, home tie against San Pedro of Cote d’Ivoire as a decider in their quest to redeem themselves for their CAF Champions League exit.

Nkana have one more shot at extending their 2018/19 continental campaign following their relegation to the CAF Confederation Cup.

This follows December’s CAF Champions League pre-group stage exit when Simba SC of Tanzania beat them 3-1 to overturn a 2-1 away loss in Kitwe and advanced to the elite competitions’ group stage.

“We are just looking for a positive result so that we can qualify to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage,” Sate said.

“We will also go to Ivory Coast with a stronger mental frame of mind after the experience we had in the away loss to Simba in the Champions League.”

The final leg is scheduled for January 19 in the Ivorian port city of San Pedro and the winner over both legs will qualify to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage that kicks-off on February 1.

Nkana have not played in the league phase of continental football since making their debut at that level in the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup when they finished third in Group B.
