Dirac Series

miniDSP introduces the DDRC-24, the world’s smallest Dirac Live® hardware processor. Dirac Live®, the world’s premier room correction solution, is now available in an unbelievably compact hardware unit. Powered by a 400 MHz Analog Devices SHARC processor, the DDRC-24 retains the 4-channel output of its sister unit, the miniDSP 2x4 Hd, in order to allow applications like subwoofer integration or even 2-way loudspeakers together with Dirac Live® room correction in a single tiny hardware platform. The matrix mixer and crossover functionality is accessed and programmed with miniDSP’s easy-to-use interface software. An all in one unit with USB DAC + Dirac Live Room Correction + Speaker processing.

I/O capabilities get an upgrade too, with the addition of USB audio streaming up to 192 kHz and a TOSLINK digital input. The miniDSP DDRC-24 will find application in full-sized hifi and home theater systems, on desktops, in cars, in recording studios anywhere a compact, powerful room correction processor is needed.

Features

  • ADSP21489 400MHz Sharc DSP floating point engine
  • XMOS Xcore200 for USB control and bidirectional audio streaming
  • 24 bit ADC/DAC resolution

What's in the box?

  • 1 x DDRC-24 including Dirac Live license for miniDSP and DDRC-24 plugin
  • 1 x 12V power supply with UK/EU/US/AU plugs
  • 1 x shielded USB cable
  • 1 x IR remote
  • 1 x Dirac live license 3.x  for miniDSP,  full range correction
  • 1 x Device Console for DSP control automatically added to your UserDownloads section on purchase
  • 1 x UMIK-1, USB microphone with unique calibration file for accurate acoustic measurements

Optional Accessories

  • WI-DG for Wifi/Alexa voice control of your unit. Note only the plugin is controllable via Wifi. Dirac Live still requires a USB connection unfortunately.
  • Audio RCA cables

NOTE: The UMIK-1/2 are measurement microphones approved by Dirac Research. Knowing the major effect a wrong calibration/measurement would have on the final results of Dirac Live tuning, we strongly recommend that you select a UMIK-1/2 microphone together with your platform for a plug&play experience leading to best results. Any issues related to 3rd party microphones such as ASIO/USB audio driver incompatibility/Latency problems or incorrect calibration process will not be under our support structure by our support team.

Application notes on miniDSP 2x4 HD and DDRC-24

The miniDSP DDRC-24 includes not only Dirac Live® but also a full set of crossover functions on its four output channels. One use of this is as a flexible tool for integrating subwoofers into your system along with Dirac Live. This application will show you how to build a 2.1 setup.

This app note demonstrates how to use the DDRC-24 for subwoofer control and correction. While the DDRC-24 is a stereo unit, the flexibility that we build into every miniDSP allows it to easily be adapted for this purpose. How?... read on!

In this application note, we will show you how to design an active 2-way loudspeaker with the miniDSP 2x4 HD. Using the 2x4 HD, you can either create a conventional (Linkwitz-Riley or Butterworth) crossover, or a linear phase crossover.

In this application note, we will show you how to integrate a subwoofer with your existing loudspeakers by using a miniDSP 2x4 HD. You can use an existing preamp, or replace a preamp and a DAC with the miniDSP 2x4 HD. (In the latter case, you will need to program a remote control to adjust volume in the miniDSP 2x4 HD.)

In this application note, we show you how to use Room EQ Wizard (REW) and its integration with miniDSP to equalize your subwoofer.

Delighted. Incredible value for money. Build quality reasonable while the end result in terms of audio quality running the Dirac is superb. A happy customer. Deliberated for far too long given a less than positive review of the DAC on the audiosciencereview site. I shouldnt have concerned myself. DAC alone, to my ear, with my linkwitz orion speakers and a cheap Neo android box as streamer and source via toslink is clean and detailed, while with Dirac the results are excellent.

I advise any and all Maggie owners to go out and get this unit and add a musical sub, you will be thoroughly impressed. The biggest complaint with the Maggies was not enough low end and subs were hard to integrate. Well no more, the DDRC-24 is the answer. Now you can rock out , listen to a symphony, grove to some jazz and get down to some blues and keep a smile on your face. Adding the DDRC-24 to my system was the smartest thing I have done in a long time. Joe

I originally purchased the 2X4HD as a replacement for my old graphic equalizer. What a fantastic unit! Highly recommended... However I recently upgraded my 2X4HD to the DDRC-24. What an unbelievable sound! I've had to cancel plans for other hardware upgrades to my system because, well, I can't justify them. The sound stage is immaculate, and gives the perfect "fr - Human voice - it sounds like the person is in the room - Every type of music - classical to electro/hip-hop etc. Whether I'm playing Willie Nelson, Pachibel's Canon, Harry Belafonte, Star Wars movies, Bach's Toccata and Fugue, video games with my son, or some of my favorite podcasts - the sound is unbelievably accurate and exciting across the board. I'm obsessed and recommending this to whomever I can. I've been listening to audio for a long time, and I've never had sound like this before.
