Akal Takht Jathedar asks Sikh masses to shun lavish weddings

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The SGPC appointed acting Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has appealed the Sikh masses to avoid depicting showoff of lavishness during wedding and bhog ceremonies. He has asked the Sikh masses to adopt simplicity during marriage functions as per the Sikh code of conduct.

Interacting with media at village Panjoli Kalan, Giani Harpreet Singh said that people have to borrow heavy amounts of money to get their weddings concluded in prevailing trend of lavishness. “When the people fail in returning borrowed amount, they become helpless to commit suicides,” he added.
