India denies visa to descendants of Rai Bular Bhatti

LAHORE, Punjab—The BJP led Indian government has denied visa to descendants of Rai Bular Bhatti, who were invited by the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee, Guru Nanak Dev University and an organization of lawyers of the Punjab & Haryana High Court for the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Guru Nanak Sahib.

Rai Saleem Bhatti, who is the 19th generation son of Rai Bular Bhatti, told the media that he along with his father and son had applied for visa in Indian consulate, but now they have received a communication on November 29 that our visa applications have been rejected.

“Though the functions to which he was invited had already been held, he was still hoping he would be able to visit Punjab and pay obeisance at Sultanpur Lodhi and Golden Temple, but his hopes had been dashed,” said Rai Saleem Bhatti while adding that he had even cancelled his visit to America for speaking at an inter-faith harmony lecture organized by the American senate.

It is noteworthy here that Rai Bular Bhatti was among the first ones who recognized the spiritual powers of Guru Nanak Sahib. While departing from this world, Rai Bular Bhatti had left 18,500 acres of his land for Guru Nanak Sahib.
