Police: Suspect befriends man with autism then steals from his bank account in Maryland

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (ABC7) — Police say they are searching for a suspect that became friends with a man with autism and then stole from his bank account in Rockville.

Montgomery County Police say that the suspect got to know the 22-year old man over a period of time and then "gained his trust."

The suspect eventually asked the man for his bank account information and he gave it to him, according to police.

Officials say the suspect when to a Navy Federal Credit Union at 12244 Rockville Pike on August 11 and deposited a fake check made out to the man and then used the victim's stolen bank card to take $600 from the man's account.

The suspect's interaction at the bank was caught on camera.

He was also recorded leaving the bank.
