Aspire Nautilus GT 75 W Starter Kit – How revered is the Aspire Nautilus in the annals of vaping history? Not only is the name synonymous with some of the most beloved MTL vape tanks ever made, but even in 2020, the company chose to name its latest kit after the tank, and not the 75-watt mod included in the box.

Behold the new Aspire Nautilus GT mod kit, aimed at moderate-wattage vapers and some pod mod refugees, to be sure. Maybe the Glint mod didn’t earn star billing on the box, but make no mistake, this kit’s a lot more than just a tank.

 

Let’s start with the details and get into why they matter…

ASPIRE NAUTILUS GT 75W STARTER KIT

Elevate your vape with the Aspire Nautilus GT Starter Kit, featuring a single 18650 battery, 1-75W wattage output range, and is paired with the Nautilus GT MTL Tank. Combining a 18650 battery within the zinc-alloy chassis construction, the Aspire GLINT can output up to 75W with ease, delivering ample power when needed. Useful for both MTL and DL vaping, the Aspire GLINT can operate on the lower parameters such as 1W output with the resistance dipping as low as 0.1ohms.

Equipped with the Aspire Nautilus GT Tank, the Nautilus GT Tank can utilize coils from the Aspire Nautilus Coil Line. Included in the package are a 0.7ohm Nautilus 2S coil and 1.6ohm Nautilus BVC Coil for those that love DL and MTL vaping, respectively. At the bottom of the Nautilus GT Tank is a 5-setting airflow control ring metering the airflow with 5 incrementally larger airflow holes.

Aesthetics of the Aspire Nautilus GT

My first-ever “high-wattage,” sub-ohm capable mod was Eleaf iStick 50. I worshipped that device more than my college degree. (It turned out to be a lot more useful than the degree, too…) So, you’re going to have to forgive me for a few minutes, because the Aspire Nautilus GT kit features the Aspire Glint 75W mod — and it’s VERY similar to that iStick.

Simple lines, monochrome OLED display, old-school menu system and operation trees — there’s nothing on the two-toned Glint that’s going to turn your head. But maybe that’s what makes it so attractive. My black and rose gold test model seemed almost defiant in its simplicity, as if to say, “Vaping wasn’t broken years ago – why did everyone try and change it?”

The 0.91-inch OLED is old enough to vote at this point, but if you’re a fan of displays that stay out of the way and tell you only what you need without confusing things, the Glint is going to appeal to your sensibilities. Personally, I always welcome shinier displays, even on simplistic mods.

GT Tank

Tank - ASPIRE NAUTILUS GT 75W STARTER KITThe 24mm Nautilus GT tank is another throwback, but a welcome one. While modern tank designs are occluding more and more of the viewing window, the Nautilus offers a crystal clear view to juice levels and coil integrity, so there’s no guessing or having to dismantle your rig to check on the parts.

It’s interesting that the tank was designed in collaboration with Taifun. That might not mean much to those raised on SMOK and Lost Vape products. But in the salad days of vaping, there were truly high-end tanks and RTAs — some of which cost hundreds of dollars and required two engineering degrees to operate.

Taifun (pronounced like the tropical storm, not a takeout restaurant), alongside SvoeMesto and Rose, were the companies leading that early charge into advanced vaping. And the company’s commitment to pristine machining and design is evident in the Nautilus GT. While a company like Aspire may not have needed the help, the kit benefits heavily from it.

Overall, the entire kit is simple, gorgeous, and designed for function over fashion, making it a winner in my eyes.

Vaping the Nautilus GT Kit

Interestingly, despite a 75-watt capable Glint mod, Aspire is aiming the GT kit squarely at MTL vapers, with a set of coils that don’t exceed 25 watt thresholds, and a drip-tip that could double as a cocktail straw. Yes, the box says the kit can be used for direct lung vaping, but don’t be fooled. If you’re looking to fog rooms, you’ll need 10 Nautilus GT kits operating at once to make it happen.

Instead, this kit is aimed at smooth mouth-to-lung draws, and a more authentic smoking sensation. In that use case, the GT kit performs admirably, delivering fantastic throat hit and draw quality, especially when using higher-nicotine e-liquids.

Simplicity

Once you have the click patterns memorized, you’ll be operating the Glint mod easily with one hand, leaving behind unnecessary complications or concerns.

The Taifun-inspired tank is true to the Nautilus lineage, with a snug-but-forgiving MTL draw that makes the most of the included 0.7 and 1.6-ohm coil heads. Long championed by low-wattage vaping enthusiasts, these heads haven’t changed in a decade, only improving in flavor and longevity.

Of the two heads on the Aspire Nautilus, I preferred the looser draw from the 0.6-ohm coil, but the 1.6-ohm option also delivers a solid vape at very modest wattages, preserving battery life considerably along the way.

Speaking of battery life, the single-18650 Glint is a solid performer in this department, giving me 5-6 hours of mid-wattage vaping before needing a recharge. Interestingly, the onboard USB-C charging worked quicker than my external charger. So, while we still recommend using dedicated chargers for your removable cells, if you’re in a hurry, Aspire has delivered a speedy onboard option for you.

Overall, a very simple, no-nonsense performer that should appeal to anyone seeking MTL satisfaction and versatile power in case they want to try other tanks.

Bottom Line of the Aspire Nautilus GT Kit

There really isn’t a need for too many words here, considering the Aspire Nautilus GT kit is such a throwback device. From the Eleaf-like mod format, to the simplistic display, to an MTL tank using decade-old coil design, there’s nothing here that screams innovation.

Instead, the kit prefers to speak only to those who want to simplify their rigs, eliminate the nonsense, and focus on flavor and satisfaction. In that regard, this throwback is retro for all the right reasons. It might not be the most sensible mod/tank pairing we’ve seen, but MTL fans are going to love this rig.
