The Ultimate Guide to Fall Restaurant Openings in Portland

19 tasty reasons to get excited for fall 2016

Just because the weather's cooling, that doesn't mean Portland's restaurant and bar openings are slowing down. This fall will see some of the city's top chefs launch collaboration concepts, its most popular supper clubs and food carts go brick and mortar, and its established restaurants and restaurateurs expand with second locations. Here are the restaurant and bar openings to get the most excited about in fall 2016.

Kim Jong Smokehouse

Location: 133 SW Pine St. (inside Pine Street Market
Players: Earl Ninsom, B.J. Smith, Han Ly Hwang
The Situation: As soon as Common Law closed, co-owner Earl Ninsom set to work designing a new restaurant to take its place. To do it, he brought in two heavy-hitting chefs, B.J. Smith (Smokehouse 21, Smokehouse Tavern) and Han Ly Hwang (Kim Jong Grillin'), and the result is Kim Jong Smokehouse. It'll serve Korean bibimbap with your choice of smoked meat (short rib, King oyster mushroom, Columbia river salmon), and a fried egg, as well as steamed buns with kimchi and smoked meats or mushrooms.
Projected Opening: Third week in September
