Rules of the Ladder

• Simple list based ladder, no Elo will be kept.
• Challenge higher ranked players to move up. You can challenge up to 5 spaces in front of you.
• If the challenger wins, they will move ahead of the player that they challenged. If a non-top 10 challenger loses, no changes will occur.
• All ladder games will be set up beforehand and then played as a best of 5 set.
• If a challenge is issued and one of the participants changes to a new position before the challenge is completed, the challenger will move ahead to the defender's position, regardless of what position either player is currently in. If a defender ends up below a challenger then the challenge is void.
• If a top 10 player loses a challenge they initiated, they will drop 1 rank.

Joining the ladder

Ask a ladder mod (Tessiro, Thanuris or Aristocrat) to join the ladder. New entrants that join after Dec 10, 2016 must take a placement test to decide their position. Once taken, it cannot be redone.

Issuing challenges

• Issue challenges on the discord channel #ladder-bulletin-board
• Each participant can only have one challenge issued at a time.
• Participants are not allowed to challenge a player that currently is being challenged by another player.
  • This means that each player can ONLY be in up to 2 challenges at once: One that they made, and one made to them.
• If a player decides to decline or postpone a challenge, they must provide a reason to the moderator to clear the challenge or else they will forfeit after a week has passed.
• Once a challenge is a completed, both participants need to compete another challenge, either as defender or challenger, before playing each other in a ladder match again. This rule does not apply to a player in Rank 1 or in Rank 2, however they must wait 3 days before a rematch.

Responding to challenges

• The challenged person has a week to repond to challenge, either by leaving a message or discussing in some channel and come to a mutual time to play.
• If no re-org occurs, the set is played on the agreed time. If either side no-shows, that person loses. If both no-show, challenge is void.

Re-orgs

• If either side posts "actually, I can't make this, let's do X", then things can continue. The week is the most amount of time between someone saying something, and the other person responding. If the other person fails to respond in that time, they lose. Make sure to tell the ladder mod if a re-org is agreed upon.

Resolving challenges

• A player has a week to respond to their challenge and play the set. The result of the set then must be posted in the results channel.
• Once the result has been updated OR the challenge has been cleared, the challenger is allowed to issue another challenge, and the defender can be challenged again.

Match rules

• Best of 5
• Characters are not locked
• Winner of the previous game must pick character first. First game can be double blind if requested.

Leaving the ladder

• If you want to drop, tell a mod.
• After dropping out you may apply to rejoin by asking a moderator.
• If approved you will go through the normal test rules as mentioned above irrespective of your former position on the ladder.
• If you voluntarily dropped out, you will not be eligible to rejoin for a period of 2 weeks minimum (moderator's discretion). This is to avoid using it as a way to jump about in the ladder.
• Players will be removed from the ladder if they remain inactive for extended periods of time.
